How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Laser hair removal uses concentrated light energy to target the pigment inside the hair shaft. That energy travels to the hair follicle, where it disrupts the hair’s ability to continue growing over time.
Because each hair grows through different stages, multiple treatments are needed to treat follicles throughout the growth cycle. Most patients notice hair becoming finer and less noticeable with each session, making shaving and other forms of hair removal much less frequent.

Is Laser Hair Removal Right for You?

Before treatment, you’ll also receive instructions to help prepare your skin. In general, patients should avoid tanning and should not wax or pluck the treatment area for about six weeks before starting laser hair removal. Shaving is encouraged because it allows the laser to target the follicle while leaving the hair root intact.
What Happens During Treatment?
Laser hair removal appointments are generally quick and comfortable.
Before treatment begins, you’ll be provided with protective eyewear. A topical numbing cream and cooling gel are applied to help keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. Your provider then uses the laser handpiece to deliver controlled pulses of energy to the treatment area.
Depending on the size of the area being treated, appointments may last anywhere from just a few minutes to about an hour.
Most patients return to their normal activities immediately afterward. Mild redness around the hair follicles is common and usually resolves within a short time.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Laser hair removal is not a one-time treatment. Because hair grows in cycles, multiple sessions are needed to achieve the best results.
Most patients begin noticing visible improvement after several treatments, with the greatest reduction typically seen after about six sessions spaced approximately six weeks apart.
Even after completing a treatment series, occasional maintenance treatments may be recommended to help maintain your results over time.
