Sculptra® Aesthetic injectable is not a dermal filler like Juvéderm® or Restylane. It’s made of poly-L-lactic acid, rather than hyaluronic acid. It is not an instant filler like hyaluronic acid products. It simulates your own collagen over a gradual 6-month interval.
However, before jumping into treatment with Sculptra®, it’s important to know a few key things about this product and its potential benefits.
1. You Should Not Use Sculptra® Around Your Eyes
Because of possible bump formation, Sculptra® is not recommended for hollowed eyes. The skin around your eyes is delicate and thin; hence, even little bumps will be visible and unappealing. For these and other reasons, Sculptra’s manufacturer recommends not using it to solve issues related to hollowed or sagging eyes.
2. Sculptra® is Excellent for Lower Face Sagging Skin
Are you noticing sagging skin around your jaw or around your mouth? Sculptra® could be the best treatment for you. Sculptra® helps in adding natural volume to large areas of the face and can restore youthful volume while also lifting wrinkles and folds for a smoother, touchable appearance. It stimulates and volumizes your face causing lifting of the sagging skin.
Sculptra® Aesthetic differs from other fillers in that it promotes the natural replacement of lost collagen in your skin. This makes the results more long-lasting and gradual, which is typically preferred compared to other injectables that create sudden results that fade more quickly. A large majority of Sculptra® patients were still satisfied with their results over two years after injection.
4. Sculptra® Treats Laugh Lines, Chin Wrinkles, and Marionette Lines
Three common signs of early aging that can get dramatically worse with time are laugh lines, chin wrinkles, and marionette lines. Sculptra® addresses these by not only filling in the area to smooth out folds and wrinkles around the mouth but also by stimulating collagen formation, adding structure and support to an area of your face that experiences a lot of movement.
5. Compared to Fat Transfer, Sculptra® is Easier
Because Sculptra® is a simple injectable procedure, our dermatologists at Trillium Creek find it to be easier compared to fat transfer. Facial fat transfer requires liposuction, which is more invasive but still less so than major surgery, in order to harvest injectable material from your own body. Although this produces very long-lasting results, it does not work the same as Sculptra®, as it does not encourage collagen production, which Sculptra® does.
Finally, keep in mind that we offer many treatments to restore your facial elasticity and volume. Each filler has various traits that can perfectly address your unique needs and treatment preferences.
