Sculptra® Aesthetic injectable is not a dermal filler like Juvéderm® or Restylane. It’s made of poly-L-lactic acid, rather than hyaluronic acid. It is not an instant filler like hyaluronic acid products. It simulates your own collagen over a gradual 6-month interval.
However, before jumping into treatment with Sculptra®, it’s important to know a few key things about this product and its potential benefits.
1. You Should Not Use Sculptra® Around Your Eyes
Because of possible bump formation, Sculptra® is not recommended for hollowed eyes. The skin around your eyes is delicate and thin; hence, even little bumps will be visible and unappealing. For these and other reasons, Sculptra’s manufacturer recommends not using it to solve issues related to hollowed or sagging eyes.
2. Sculptra® is Excellent for Lower Face Sagging Skin

5. Compared to Fat Transfer, Sculptra® is Easier
Because Sculptra® is a simple injectable procedure, our dermatologists at Trillium Creek find it to be easier compared to fat transfer. Facial fat transfer requires liposuction, which is more invasive but still less so than major surgery, in order to harvest injectable material from your own body. Although this produces very long-lasting results, it does not work the same as Sculptra®, as it does not encourage collagen production, which Sculptra® does.
