Trillium Creek Dermatology offers comprehensive care for skin cancer. Beginning with detection, we have dermatologists board certified by the American Academy of Dermatology, along with physician assistants and nurse practitioners with extensive training to provide thorough skin exams. If a suspicious spot is found, a biopsy is taken and then examined by Dr. Josh Weaver, a dermatopathologist with specialized training in interpreting skin specimens.
If you are diagnosed with a skin cancer, we have a wide variety of treatments available. The method of treatment is determined by many factors, including location, type, size, primary or recurrent tumor, as well as the health and preference of the patient. All surgical treatments are performed in office with local anesthesia. The following treatments are offered at Trillium Creek:
- Curettage and electrodessication
- Cryosurgery
- Topical chemotherapy
- Laser surgery
- Excisional surgery
- Photodynamic therapy
- Mohs micrographic surgery
Once your skin cancer has been adequately treated, you should have at least an annual exam at Trillium Creek. We offer numerous products that can help remove sun damaged cells and rejuvenate the skin to help prevent future skin cancers. We also reiterate the Skin Cancer Foundation’s tips for skin cancer prevention, which include:
- Seek shade, especially between 10am and 4pm.
- Avoid sunburns, tanning, and tanning booths.
- Use a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher daily.
- Apply one ounce (two tablespoons) of sunscreen to your entire body 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply every two hours.
- Cover up with clothing, including broad-rimmed hats and UV-blocking sunglasses.
- Keep newborns out of the sun. Sunscreen should be used on babies over six months.
- Examine your skin from head to toe every month.
- See your dermatologist every year for a professional skin exam.
