Hello and welcome to this week’s Trillium Creek Dermatology and Surgery Center’s Podcast. My name is Farah Edds and I’m a Physician Assistant at Trillium Creek Dermatology.
Have you heard about one of our newest treatment options, the PiQo4 laser? If you haven’t, you may be missing out on the treatment option that’s just right for you!
What is PiQo4 laser?
The Piqo4 is a laser that uses many different wavelengths of light and energy settings to treat a variety of pigmentary conditions and concerns.
What does it treat?
This laser removes tattoos, dark spots otherwise known as lentigos, melasma – This is also the mask of pregnancy, and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation due to scarring or other conditions.
What are treatments like?
Depending on what a client is trying to treat, we tailor the number of treatments and time between each treatment to each individual. Typically tattoos take at least 4 or more treatments for removal, and this depends on many factors including age of tattoo, color, and skin tone of patient to name a few. Melasma also takes at least 4 treatments to achieve an appreciable lightening of pigment. The length of time per appointment also depends on the size of the area to be treated, and we can customize appointments anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes long. We can give you an accurate estimate of number of treatments, time between treatments, and cost at your individualized consultation.
How they feel?
The treatments can feel differently depending on what type of pigment we are treating. Most of the treatments are very comfortable. Tattoo removal can be very uncomfortable, however we provide many options for pain control at your appointment, including topical numbing cream, lidocaine injections, and laughing gas to help ease any discomfort.
Pre and post care information:
We provide our clients with care instructions for before and after your procedure, depending on what we are treating. These individualized instructions will be provided at your consultation appointment.
Immediately after treatment, you will see a whitish “frosting” over the tattoo. The skin will often swell in the area of the tattoo, accompanied by mild redness.
The frosting, swelling, and redness will resolve in a matter of hours. The tattoo may crust or blister as the body repairs itself. This will resolve naturally. The tattoo will fade gradually in the following weeks as your body clears the ink.
For skin pigmentation, you can expect your skin to have a pinkish tone for 1-4 hours, and brown spots appear lighter in appearance on the day after treatment.
What products can I use to compliment the procedure?
We offer an incredible variety of skin care products to help compliment your laser treatments here at Trillium Creek with H&H Science. If you are concerned with dark spots/scarring, it is especially helpful to use the HH Science Brightening Collection for a few weeks prior to your first treatment. You will also want to use an SPF 50+ Tinted Sunscreen, and the Vitamin Enriched Hydrating Mist to help cool and calm the skin after treatments.
Once again, I’m Farah Edds, Physician Assistant with Trillium Creek Dermatology & Surgery Center. If you have any individual questions regarding the PiQo4 laser, please feel free to schedule a consultation with us! Thank you for listening to this week’s podcast on No Color Left Behind!
