Acne is most often induced by hormonal changes. Oil trapped in the sebaceous glands forms plugs in the pores of the skin, causing whiteheads. If the pore remains open, the top surface of the plug becomes dark, causing a blackhead. Bacteria thrive in this environment, causing pimples. Left untreated, acne scarring can occur.
When tissues are injured, the body rushes to repair the injury site. Among the elements of the repair are white blood cells and inflammatory molecules that have the task of repairing tissue and fighting infection. When their job is done they may remain at the site of an active acne lesion for days or even weeks. In people who are susceptible to scarring, the result may be an acne scar in the form of fibrous or eroded tissue. Two types of scars exist:

- Raised thickened tissue such as keloids.

Treatment & Steps of BBL
The procedure is non-invasive, gentle, and safe. Generally, there is no need for a topical anesthetic, however, your Trillium Creek provider may choose to use it depending on the patients’ needs. Treatment can take as little as 15 minutes, depending on the area you are looking to treat. Treatment time and frequency vary from patient to patient.
You can expect to see an improvement after just one treatment, but the total number of treatments needed varies from patient to patient. Your Trillium Creek Dermatologist will personalize a plan for you.
Step 1
Skin is first treated with BLUE BBL light to eliminate acne-causing bacteria at its source, deep down in the pores.
Step 2
Skin is then treated with YELLOW BBL light to reduce inflammation and acne-associated redness to give you healthy, luminous skin.
Step 3
For added benefit, the skin is then treated with SkinTyte II™ using INFRA-RED light in rapid, gentle pulses to initiate the body’s natural healing process. Your physician at Trillium Creek Dermatology will develop a personalized plan which may include add-on and follow-up BBL treatments, as well as a skincare regimen for clearer skin that lasts.
Forever Clear® BBL Results
There is typically no downtime. Most patients can wear make-up and resume normal activities immediately. Please follow your Trillium Creek provider’s aftercare plan until the skin is completely healed – typically about one week after the treatment.
